Code of Conduct statement for
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)
Kansas Heartland Chapter events

Attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and speakers are expected to conduct themselves with integrity, professionalism, and care while participating in or conducting business during an AFP Kansas Heartland Chapter event. Events are in-person or virtual events, such as educational sessions, general meetings, business functions, or social events. This policy extends to any social events affiliated with AFP-Heartland events. Conduct details include:

  • Acting in a professional and appropriate manner at all times during an AFP Kansas Heartland Chapter event, whether for educational, business, or social purposes.

  • Refraining from any activity or action that could adversely reflect upon AFP Kansas Heartland Chapter or that is inconsistent with treating all AFP Kansas Heartland Chapter volunteers, staff, attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors with dignity and respect.

  • Refraining from abusing intoxicating substances, including alcohol or drugs, while participating in an AFP Kansas Heartland Chapter event.

  • Respecting the opinions of fellow event attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and AFP Kansas Heartland Chapter volunteers and employees, leaving personal prejudices out of all discussions.

  • Representing the organization in a positive and supportive manner.

  • Showing respect and courteous conduct to all attendees and members.

  • Complying with AFP International’s zero-tolerance policy for harassment at all AFP educational, business, and/or social functions.

We are committed to keeping AFP Kansas Heartland Chapter events a safe place for all event participants. If you think that someone has exhibited any actions of violence or harassment, you are expected to immediately bring this issue to the attention of event support staff. Any acts of bullying, violence, harassment (including sexual harassment), or intimidation will not be tolerated and may result in being removed from the event and/or referred to local law enforcement.

Respectful Communication
At AFP Kansas Heartland Chapter, we value professionalism among our membership, profession, and guests. This includes demonstrating honesty, respect, integrity, compassion, humility, and accountability, and we expect the same from all attendees at our in-person and online events. We promote open discussion between event participants and expect that all will listen to shared
perspectives that are different from our own.
